Audio Transformer Box Music Mixing Mastering Saturator Impulse Response IR
Transformers have been used to process sound since recording began waaaay back in the day - well over 100 years ago! As digital audio became a Thing - and recordings lost their analog warmth & became harsh & brittle - mixing and especially mastering engineers started collecting all the transformers they could find - & building transformer boxes - so they could run audio through different units & get different types of transformer saturation - because transformer saturation softens harsh top end in a natural & very beautiful way - it also creates low end frequency harmonics - so you get a fat, warm, rich bottom end that extends further up the audio spectrum than bass normally can - (so you can feel / hear it on smaller devices).
This Huge (209 !!) collection of transformer impulse responses (captured with various levels of saturation) will add clarity, bass, and gentle softness to your mixes - it will also give you the natural 3D feel associated with transformers. You should experiment by trying out lots of different types on different audio sources. Start first on the mixbus & find the general flavour for your music - then add more to taste. It can also bring a mix together much more naturally than compression!
The 3 Tank Comms units are probably the most expensive (military spec!) - and the Beyer files are Mic transformers - so are rich, punchy & Very 3d - but all the trannies have their own special magic - some of the smaller sets are superb for adding richness / de-harshing vocals - or punch to mid range instruments such as guitars or synths - like putting a little halo around your music!
